In your blog, discuss the most relevant features offered in an LMS, which relate directly to effective online instruction. How might these be used in the online environment?
After exploring the many options and categories of a LMS, I have
listed the five that I think are most relevant to teacher teaching in an online
environment and a description of how the tool is used in Brightspace the LMS
used by GaVS

Content
|
This is where the course content can be found in the class.
It can be a combination of eBooks, videos, interactive learning activities,
and assignments. This is the main location where students learn and is the
core of the LMS.

Reporting
|
Brightsace has many great analytics used and
has become very important for me in keeping tabs on student progress. I can
see how a specific student is doing on tasks or get a bigger picture of how
the class is doing. With these reports – such as averages on quizzes, time
spent on content, test question analytics, etc I can be informed and change
my instruction in order to help students succeed.

Communication
|
Communication within our LMS takes place in
various forms. News announcements, feedback, and direct email gives teachers
a chance to communicate general and specific information to students.

Teacher Information
|
As a virtual teacher it is important for
students to be able to reach us so the teacher information widget provides
all of the necessary information for a student to contact us. It provides
email, phone number, office hours etc.
It also provides a link to our bio so that students can get to know us
better.
