Skill: Navigate 3.2.1 – Tools for Deciding on an LMS Quest

Categorize the top LMS/CMS vendors associated with a specific learner (K12, Higher Ed., or Business) in your blog. Make a selection for what is the optimal LMS for the organization.

I decided to focus on furthering my research for the K12 learner as that is what teach. I read the article The Best LMS (Learning Management Systems) for 2016 , which according to the editor the top three LMS systems are Moodle, Schoology, and Absorb. Each of these LMS systems received an editor rating of 4.5.  though looking at the nice info graphic provided in the article you can see there are some wide differences in the services they offer.

Between these three LMS I will rank them based on reviews I have read, services offered, and experience.

1. Moodle - If you are willing to put time and energy into it, a good product. One of the Pros is that it is free, open source, and changing daily - but you need to be willing to shoulder the administrative support. If you the K12 experience is global there are tons of language options. The ability for SCORM imports makes this an attractive feature for big schools like GaVS.

2. Schoology - Based on social networking sites, Schoology according to the article 'hits the sweet spot' for LMS> It is primarily free and open access, though you can have some paid feathers. For individual teacher use I think this is great. I would not say not so great for Bigger schools like GaVS because it lacks SCORM import ability.

3. Absorb - Good for medium to large learning groups. Probably best for an office situation as there are not options for games. I think learning games are important for K12 learning as it helps learn and reinforce content.
