After selecting and downloading a trial LMS, create a course shell and make note of the various tools available. Then, select content to upload to the course shell. While the content loads, note the steps completed to fully load the package and make it viewable. What were those steps? Is it important to follow these steps? Write a description of the experience in your blog.
I
choose schoology to create a course shell. Several of my friends use this LMS,
it is a completely free LMS, and I
was curious. There are several tools available including being able to use the gradebook
to create groups, a great calendar and alert system, recently activities, and a
an area where you can see recent messages.
I
found the LMS very user friendly and the basic course was fairly easy to set
up. It has a face book ease to it in terms of set up.
I
created a Biology class and I added a lab assignment that was associated with the
grade book. The steps to add an
assignment needed four clicks, but the process itself was fairly easy.
1) Add Materials
2) Choose the material
adding, I choose an assignment, though you can add blog, discussion, page,
media etc
3) Fill in the necessary
information
4) Hit Create
5) Then it shows up in
the course.
I
need to play around with this some more, but I am considering using this in my
face-to-face classroom.
