I read the article Top 6 eLearning Trends For 2016. It listed the top six trends as Gamification, Automated Course Authoring, Cloud-Based Systems, Wearable tech training, Big Data, and Responsive Learning Management Systems.
        

I think for individual users the two trends for 2016 are ramification and Responsive Learning Management systems.

Gamification takes the content and assignments and 'gamifies' the learning experience. It has been shown that this will increase engagement, interaction within the content, and motivation.  In a time when students are used to instant gratification, gamification proves it when a teacher cannot be present.


I think that Responsive Learning Management Systems (RLMS) is another big trend, With so many devices, readers, tablets, laptops, smart phone, users want to be able to access their learning materials anywhere/anytime. RLMS allows courses and content to be accessed from any devices, any system, and any time. The RLMS automatically adjust to what ever system the user is using. This can be important f a school has Macs and a student has a PC/tablet at home.
